Advice for getting started
Although I'd recommend my same educational path, I believe that there are many different paths people can take to pursue careers which aim to make the world a better place. What you study is less important. What matters more is how you align your career aspirations with your values and your vision for the difference you want to make in the world.
Here's the path I took:
High School
Bachelor's Degree
Public Policy
Princeton University
Life & Career Milestones
My path in life has been direct
1.
When I was a senior in college, I proposed a thesis idea to recruit top graduates to teach in underserved schools, inspiring Teach For America.
2.
After graduation, I turned my thesis into a full-fledged proposal, overcoming countless rejections to secure funding.
3.
In 1990, Teach For America launched with 500 educators committed to making a difference in urban and rural schools.
4.
Witnessing the global impact of educational inequity led me to co-found Teach For All, now spanning over 60 countries.
5.
Leading Teach For All became my life’s mission—centering education as the key to systemic change across borders.
