Day In The Life Of A Construction Entrepreneur

My Day to Day

Every day, I tackle construction challenges as the founder and CEO of Corenic Construction Group. From building schools and office spaces to renovating major landmarks like the M&T Bank Stadium, my role is all about problem-solving and turning clients’ dreams into reality. I lead projects from start to finish, coordinating design and construction while also giving back to the communities we build in through food banks, school drives, and local nonprofit support.

Life & Career Milestones

My path in life has been direct

  • 1.

    I went to North Carolina A&T State University, originally for graphic arts, but switched to architecture engineering, then construction and civil engineering.

  • 2.

    Turner Construction hired me straight out of college, giving me my first big break in the construction industry.

  • 3.

    I founded Corenic Construction Group, named after my children's middle names.

  • 4.

    During the COVID-19 pandemic, I worked relentlessly to keep all employees without firing or laying off anyone, despite financial challenges.

  • 5.

    Mentorship from industry leaders like Thomas Morehead and Henry Gilford helped me grow my company and create my own legacy.

  • 6.

    My company supports the community by partnering with local schools, providing resources, and hiring from minority-owned businesses.

  • 7.

    I aim to make Corenic Construction the largest African-American construction company in the region.
