Defining Moments
How I responded to discouragement
THE NOISE
Messages from Society in general:
The discouragement I have encountered while on my career journey is that I would never make much money. I did research and learned that the government and even parents didn't really value educators.
How I responded:
I had to decide what was more important to me: income or my passion for being an educator. I wanted to make a difference more than being rich. Both would be nice, but I learned from others around me that job satisfaction is what we all should look for. As I grew in my career and would see students who would otherwise be lost without support graduate and begin careers and have unique college experiences beyond what they survived in their neighborhoods. Their success fills my heart with joy.
