My road in life took a while to figure out.
College for Construction Management with focus in Highway Construction
Started first Job as Project Manager / Estimator in Commercial Construction. Got married and started a family.
Moved from Construction Department to Financial Department.
Started my Masters Degree in Business Administration
Moved to School Facilities Department as Deputy Director. Got Divorced
Went back to Construction Industry as the Controller
Graduated with Masters Degree after 5 years instead of planned 2.5 years.

Day to Day

I spend time lots of time coordinating with a variety of teams on different tasks or challenges. I work on individual tasks or goals as time allows or when under a deadline. I try to put some type of continuing education such as reading, webinars, and engaging in industry issues into each day. No two days are alike and I have to be flexible in how I complete my work to be able to coordinate the expectations of my work, my teams work and my family.

Here's the first step for everyone

Internships are very important to understanding a possible career. Internships come with work that is not always fun but pay attention to the culture and atmosphere of the company and industry. You can learn a lot by watching and asking about what is going on around you even if you aren't able to get involved right away.
