Defining Moments

How I responded to discouragement

  • THE NOISE

    Messages from Society in general:

Many people could not understand how my experience and education in social work is applicable to the business world, because both embody different values.

  • How I responded:

I believe that all experience is valuable and transferrable. It's as simple as finding the commonality in the both areas to show how your diverse experience is actually an asset to the company. My background in social work provided me with the emotional intelligence to look at issues from a different perspective, to understand risk identification and mitigations, as well as how to influence people to make changes that are necessary. I feel that I am more balanced because of this experience.
