Life & Career Milestones

My path in life took a while to figure out

  • 1.

Honestly, I think I was always a photographer. I was always a little creative in that sense, like a playful kid. I remember taking photos when I was little and just being in awe with the image.

  • 2.

I remember the first picture I took, it was on my moms 80's style polaroid, and I just remember being mesmerized by how I was able to capture what I saw, like capturing a moment in time.

  • 3.

Looking back at that, I think I was always into art, that's where my passion started.

  • 4.

It took me a long time to graduate and dropped out at first. I tried psychology, then accounting, but the whole time I kept taking art classes. I was paying for school so I landed on art.

  • 5.

I started out in sculpture and ceramics and then I took photography as my elective, working in the dark room and developing photos in the dark is what made me fall in love with photography.

  • 6.

I then got an A.A. and my BFA in photography. After graduating a few months later I accepted a photo coordinator job. Even though I accepted that job, my heart was still fully in the arts field.

  • 7.

About 2.5 years into that job I decide to leave and continue studying electronic arts and the emphasis of photography, and got my masters in the arts. All while still keeping in-touch with my job.

  • 8.

Once I graduated, I was offered my job back and I immediately accepted as I love the company and the bosses. I was then promoted to multimedia manager, which is what I've been doing since!

Defining Moments

How I responded to discouragement

    Messages from Society in general:

First word that comes to mind for me is 'self worth'

  • How I responded:

I've had 20 some jobs before this one, and they were the kind of jobs where you weren't treated very well, but you don't know that, you just think that's how it is if you haven't had that perspective. So now having a good boss and working for a good company, I have self-worth as a worker. Having something to bring and being told that I do, gives me the empowerment to be and do what I am good at, it makes me feel valuable. They value me as a worker and that makes me want to work harder.

  • You should add an all of the above. I'm a first generation American. When your family comes here to make a better life for themselves that first generation starts at the bottom so all those things listed apply directly and indirectly.
