If you like helping others, working with others, and value fostering relationships, teaching is such a rewarding job.

Milestones

My road in life has been direct.
After my first year as an art major, I changed my major to Child and Adolescent Studies, and then graduated with my BS in Child & Adolescent Development.
Then, I continued at Cal State Fullerton to earn my teaching credential. I gained experience by working with kids in Summer Camps and tutoring.
Thankfully, through networking and being proactive to start my teaching career, I was hired right after earning my teaching credential and started my first job teaching in a local elementary school.
While I was teaching full-time, I earned my Masters in Elementary Education with a concentration in Curriculum & Instruction (from CSUF).
After several years teaching 6th grade (which I loved), I decided to pursue my PhD and applied to a doctorate program in London.
It was quite an adjustment living and studying abroad, but I remained determined and earned my PhD from King's College, University of London.
After a couple of years applying for jobs and facing rejection multiple times, I was fortunate to get hired at my stomping grounds, California State University, Fullerton.

Day to Day

On a typical day, I would review my plans for what I’m going to teach in my classes and ensure I am prepared with everything I need to teach. Between teaching, I answer emails, hold office hours, plan for my next classes, grade assignments, and provide feedback.
