My path in life took a while to figure out
1.
I started high school and got normal grades. However, I had a really hard time making friends and decided to move schools after my first year.
2.
I went to a specialty high school, which allowed me to take college classes in addition to my normal ones. At this school, I ended up making a few close friends but the curriculum was too hard for me.
3.
I went back to my old high school and stayed there until the beginning of my senior year, where I was forced to live in Washington with my other parent.
4.
While there, I decided I really wanted to be a nurse or at least work some kind of a job in the medical field, so I started to take some extra medical-based classes at my school.
5.
I got a part-time job, which I kept for almost six months, and realized that I really do not like working a minimum-wage job. This is when I started looking into clothing resale.
6.
I applied to three universities and only got accepted into one, so I began preparing to move back to California to attend my new school after graduating high school in June of 2020.
7.
I am currently attending college and have slowly worked my way up the status pole with my Depop shop. I pick up part-time jobs when I feel like I could use a little extra money to help with fees.
Defining Moments
How I responded to discouragement
THE NOISE
Messages from Parents:
You keep buying all of these clothes, and I don't think you'll be able to sell all of them. You're going to be broke.
How I responded:
You really just have to ignore people who talk down on you. If you stick to your goals and keep doing your best, most of the time you will be successful. In addition to this, most of the people who make negative comments to me about what I am doing do not even know much about it, so I have learned to take their comments very lightly.
Experiences and challenges that shaped me
I was addicted to opiates for a year and a half before I finally started to get clean, which was extremely hard at first. But, the outcome was worth every hard step I took throughout my journey to recovery.
