The journey is the best part.

Milestones

My road in life took a while to figure out.
In undergrad, I was 90% certain I would go into tax at KPMG after getting my master's from the University of Texas.
Attending Vanderbilt University for my MAcc degree was one of the most unexpected, yet fulfilling opportunities I've had.
While I was in grad school, I planned to go to Dallas to work in Valuation at KPMG.
Dallas wasn't quite the right fit for a small-town, South Dakota girl. I accepted a position in Audit with KPMG in Nashville.
In May 2018, I graduated from Vanderbilt University and one month later won the title of Miss South Dakota, something I'd been dreaming of and working towards for over 10 years.
For one year, I travelled across South Dakota promoting financial literacy through a children's book I wrote called Mr. Money Sheep.
In September of 2019, I started as an Audit Associate with KPMG in Nashville, TN—quite the pivot from tax, Dallas, and a year living my dream. I haven't looked back since!
The journey is the best part.

Helping People

Day to Day

Each morning, I meet with my engagement team and senior (anywhere from 2 to 8 people) to discuss the status of the audit and address any questions. From here I will make a to-do list for myself of the different tasks I hope to accomplish that day. I am task-driven, and it helps my productivity to know that I will check items off my list and progress the audit. As I have questions, I will collaborate with the team before reaching out to the client to assistance.

Advice for Getting Started

The Noise I Shed

From Society in General:

"I am fortunate to have been largely support by friends and family in my career endeavors; however, accounting / auditing is often stereotyped as being purpose-less."
