Milestones

My road in life took a while to figure out.
1989 - First summer job as a bookkeeper. The work was so mundane that I told myself and everyone I don't want to be an accountant when I grow up.
1991 - I had to choose between studying English Literature at a more prestigious university in Hong Kong or Accounting at a second tier college with the best accounting program.
1994 - Had three offers from the Big 6 at the time and chose KPMG Peat Marwick for their market share of banking clients.
1994-1997 Three years of great experience working on the largest banking clients and other industries.
1997 - Wanted to experience something different so I applied for a rotation to the US and spent 2 years in NY. This marked the most pivotal moment in my career.
1999 - Returned to HK as a first year manager. It was the toughest year in my entire career. Managing a portfolio of new clients while reacclimating to the HK office was extremely challenging.
2000 - Moved back to NY to continue my professional development at KPMG NY. I was able to have a successful career while raising a family with my husband.
2011 Made partner, I didn't think I would accomplish when I first joined the firm. Little did I know at the time that so many more doors await for me to open on this journey.

Day to Day

Since I've transitioned to a risk management role, most of my day is spent with different engagement teams that are seeking consultation and guidance on a wide variety of topics related to their engagements, and working on audit quality initiatives at the practice level. I'm also a quality control reviewer for a number of engagements so I spend time with those engagements teams and reviewing their audit work and financial statements before issuances.
