THE NOISE
Messages from Teachers:
When making the decision to join the public accounting profession after completing my degree, I was told the profession I would be entering would require me to work seven days a week, give me no work-life balance, and have a high rate of turnover.
How I responded:
The profession is very different today than when I joined in 1993; however, one constant is the tremendous opportunity to continuously learn and develop yourself, both personally and professionally. Also, the profession allows you the autonomy to choose your own path and experiences, whether that be the types of client engagements you work on, the types of projects you work on, or performing an international assignment. The endless opportunities and experiences allow you to make it your own.
Experiences and challenges that shaped me
A hurdle I had to overcome was getting out of my own way and having confidence and belief in myself. As I grew up, I lacked confidence in myself, which prevented me from sharing my point of view and trying new experiences.
