Assurance Senior Manager
I collaborate with others to solve important problems for our clients, primarily around financial statement audits.
My work is centered around financial statement audits of asset management companies. These audits provide a certain level of assurance (or confidence) to the many stakeholders. A typical day of work is interacting with various members of my teams to deliver upon these audits. Each day is different and the accounting and financial reporting rules are always changing, making it important to stay abreast of all the macro and micro economic factors impacting our clients and our work.
Here's the first step for college students
For students looking to pursue a career in public accounting, I highly recommend getting your foot in the door very early on. There are a ton of opportunities for you to get involved and get to know professionals in public accounting as early as freshman year, so be proactive and get out there! Ideally, you should be aiming to land an internship opportunity by your junior year of college.
"People in my socioeconomic background generally did not graduate college and if they did, they did not attain careers in their field. My father harvested corn as a child in Mexico and reads at a 3rd grade level. I learned English in 4th grade. "
