How I responded to discouragement
THE NOISE
Messages from Society in general:
Consider the work-life balance that you're about to give up on by going into public accounting. Perhaps starting a family will be a dream of the past. Do you think you'll actually make it to becoming a Partner? Were the long nights worth it?
How I responded:
The public perception over professionals in public accounting varies from really enticing rumors to a stigma that may not be as appealing to someone looking to have a certain lifestyle, but I can assure you that with you won't go at it alone. Our leaders are extremely supportive of us achieving our personal goals and aspirations, which means the only roadblock would be yourself. "If people are doubting how far you can go, go so far you can't hear them anymore" - Michele Ruiz.
Experiences and challenges that shaped me
Like many of you, I was the 1st in my family to walk on stage and receive a college degree. And although you'll sometimes feel alone and confused on what the future brings, this journey is our own and is worth it all.
