Defining Moments

How I responded to discouragement

  • THE NOISE

    Messages from Friends:

Are you sure you want to be an accountant? It sounds kinda of boring and very numbers-focused.

  • How I responded:

A career in accounting provides so much opportunity within the profession and outside it. A career in a Big 4 or other public accounting firm allows you access at a relatively young age to leaders in industry—CEOs and CFOs—that really allow you to grow in experience and career. While accounting is based on numbers, it's the relationships with peers, customers, clients, & the collaborative nature of the work that make it very interesting (& you see and learn a great deal of different businesses).
