My path in life has been direct
1.
In my first few weeks on the job, my performance was rated as unsatisfactory.
2.
I was staffed on a large engagement where I was fortunate to meet numerous people who mentored me and provided me constructive feedback to continuously improve my job performance.
3.
Through years of continuing to grow personally and professionally, I was offered an opportunity to earn an MBA via a program offered thru my firm.
4.
My career enabled me to serve a variety of clients, both large and small. The diversity of experience required me to expand my skill set to satisfy the requirements of each assignment.
5.
I spent long days and hours getting through the peak times, which caused me to miss some experiences with my children as they were growing up. Strong support from my wife and family were instrumental.

THE NOISE
Messages from Society in general:
Accounting is boring.
How I responded:
Accounting is a dynamic and noble profession. In the profession of public accounting, you get the opportunity to learn about a myriad of companies and industries and have the opportunity to interface and exchange ideas with top flight professionals.
Experiences and challenges that shaped me
I was the first in my family to receive an undergraduate degree. Although my family was instrumental in teaching me the importance of morals and values, I was not able to lean on my family to get advice and counsel to navigate my professional career.
