I perform audits of global public and private companies and advise them on transactions.
There is no typical day at work. Every day is different depending on what my clients are doing and the time of the year. A typical audit is an annual yearly process so it has phases of planning, process understanding, execution and reporting that follow a general timeline. If a client is publicly traded, there are SEC requirements that dictate the deadlines that must be met. This results in busier times each quarter and year-end. I spend most days at my clients with my teams.
Here's the first step for college students
Reach out to the recruiters at the company you are interested in working at. If at college, attend the events hosted by the companies and personally introduce yourself. Don't just sit in the back and listen—come up and say hi. If you're interested in accounting, create a plan early in your career for taking (and passing) the CPA exam.
