My path in life took a while to figure out
1.
Going into college I wasn't sure which major I wanted to declare. I ended up choosing criminology (probably the product of watching too much Criminal Minds).
2.
After 2 semesters of criminology, I decided I wanted to go into Business Management in the hopes of running my own dance competition some day.
3.
In the Bus. Management track I had to take intro to financial accounting. This class clicked for me and I ended up switching to Accounting entirely.
Defining Moments
How I responded to discouragement
THE NOISE
Messages from Teachers:
I received a lot of discouragement during school when telling recruiters I wanted to work in New York City. As a Florida resident many people told me it would be easier to get a job in Atlanta or in a Florida office.
How I responded:
I told recruiters that my 1st, 2nd, and 3rd choices of preferred office location were NYC. I had many recruiters tell me there was no way they could send me to NYC and I had other recruiters who said they would love to send me to NYC. This is how I determined which firms were aligned with my core values. Ultimately, this discouragement made my final decision in choosing a firm much easier than some of my peers.
