Defining Moments

How I responded to discouragement

  • THE NOISE

Firstly, in high school "don't study art, you won't get any work". Secondly, chase the money - there comes a point where job satisfaction outweighs salary. Once you reach a certain point, that is!

  • How I responded:

I practiced what I preach to students: pick a pathway and apply yourself. When the work is no longer satisfying, reinvent yourself. By knowing what makes you employable, career change becomes easier to attain.

Experiences and challenges that shaped me

  • I came to Australia as a refugee, and was the first in my family to go through the high school system, and university system. I was a guinea pig, and used my obstacles to inform my siblings and family friends to make better choices.
