My path in life took a while to figure out
1.
Getting married at 18 and maintaining a real, quality relationship. Marriage is so difficult sometimes, but we always make it through.
2.
Obtaining Bachelor's degree at UT Austin took me 5 1/2 years! I had such a hard time keeping up, but absolutely loved campus and the vast cultures. I learned the most about people different than me.
3.
My first school was a difficult school, under performing, difficult culture, teaching math to students who have always been told they can't do it. I loved the school and community.
4.
Becoming a mom
5.
Stay at home mom to teaching at MNTHS
6.
Curriculum to Coach to Masters
7.
From almost becoming principal to stepping aside.
8.
2nd year principal
Defining Moments
How I responded to discouragement
THE NOISE
Messages from Peers:
You don't have enough experience. You are too young. You are female.
How I responded:
I know my capabilities and I find things and quotes that redirect me back to the purpose of the work. I seek feedback regularly from people that I trust yet will speak truthfully so that I am able to distinguish critical feedback from inappropriate feedback.
Experiences and challenges that shaped me
I am a deep processor & so it often takes me longer to develop a full understanding of something or come to a decision & that sometimes appears to others to be a learning issue because they think I am slow when I am thinking very deeply & thoroughly.
