How I responded to discouragement
THE NOISE
Messages from Society in general:
that I shouldn't pursue education as a career because of the salary, especially at the K-12 level.
How I responded:
I've always had a passion for learning and enjoyed being at school. Eventually toward the end of undergrad, I realized a lot of my experiences centered around education as well, so I stopped running from my destiny. I embraced it and realized that education isn't limited to a K-12 classroom, so I pursued a graduate degree in Higher Education because I love student services.
Experiences and challenges that shaped me
I sought out mentors to help fill in the information gap that my family had with navigating college.
