Milestones

My road in life has been direct.
2002- Went to college thinking about majoring in pre-med, realized education as a passion and switched, mid-term.
2006- Graduated and wanted to teach high school Biology, however I could only get interviews for middle school science. I got a job 1 month after graduating, teaching 7th grade science.
2008- I began writing middle school curriculum for my district on a team of 4, along with loving my job as a middle school science teacher.
2016- I took a break from teaching to travel. Southeast Asia, New Zealand and India. I found a new passion in life.
2018- I began my work as a Curriculum and Instruction Manager and I'm excited to put my hands-on experiences to good use.

Advice for Getting Started

Here's the first step for college students

Go back and visit your high school or middle school, talk to your favorite teachers about what they did to get where they are. If you're interested in curriculum design then talk to a curriculum coordinator for the district you attended. A lot of school districts love to encourage former students to work for them.

Recommended Education

My career is related to what I studied. I'd recommend the path I took:
