How I responded to discouragement
THE NOISE
Messages from Peers:
I was encouraged to look at other institutions by the dean of the graduate school because my academic performance to that point was probably below my potential. They were correct, but my drive and level of persistence was not part of the analysis.
How I responded:
I was firm in my belief that spending 2 years getting an MBA was going to be challenging, but that the effort was likely to pay dividends over what I had hoped would be a long career. I excelled in graduate school because I was able to connect the materials to my day to day working life. Connecting theory to my daily reality gave me positive feedback that confirmed my decision to get the degree. It was a turning point in my life and I am so grateful for having started down that road!
