Defining Moments

How I responded to discouragement

  • THE NOISE

    Messages from Peers:

I was a Union employee for almost 30 years. Nine years with the ILWU and 20 with the Teamsters. When I decided to make the change to management, friends made comments such as no job security and no money.

  • How I responded:

I didn't listen to what my peers said to me. I wanted to make a difference with all the knowledge I had about the business. I knew there would be a lot of hard work, dedication and sacrifices. With my family support, I succeeded. I enjoy my work by being honest, always doing what is right and communicating to all of my staff.. All of the hard work had been rewarding financially and personally.
