Defining Moments
How I responded to discouragement
- THE NOISE - Messages from Family: - Are you sure this is cut out for you? You may not be able to finish and get stuck in a office filing papers.
- How I responded: - Have a curious mind! I was willing and open to step out and explore because I had never participated in a internship before so I had no idea what to expect until I joined Travelers EDGE and received guidance. It is my personal goal to strive for success in everything I do and am involved in. Another great value was to pair myself with mentors who I believed were genuine, had my best interest at heart and truly contributed to my development. Stay focused, determined, resilient and work hard!
Experiences and challenges that shaped me
- I used to save coins/loose change as I got them and at the end of the year cashed them out. Seek grants if possible. I tried to purchase my text books used. Participate in an internship (paid if possible) to save towards tuition/living expenses.
