How I responded to discouragement
THE NOISE
"You'll never get anywhere" or "you can't do that" were themes I heard pretty often, especially as I struggled through college and several years after. It didn't hit me until almost 10 years out of school where I was really meant to be in the world.
How I responded:
The old adage, "the 2 most important days in your life are the day you're born and the day you find out why" is true. Find what you're truly passionate about & pour everything into it. Surround yourself with positive vibes. Recently, after YEARS of going down dead end paths, I achieved my big dream of being a head varsity basketball coach in the inner city. I couldn't have done it without committing to seeing things in a more positive light, and trusting in God and my family to take me there.
