Life & Career Milestones

My path in life took a while to figure out

  • 1.

I changed my undergrad major 3 times before I settled on anthropology. I wasn't happy with that, either, but I had to finish my degree before I ran out of money for school.

  • 2.

I took a year off after college and taught English in France while I figured out my next steps. I decided I wanted to pursue either higher education or social work.

  • 3.

I looked for jobs in both social work and higher education, and found a job that combined both. This helped me decide to pursue a masters in higher ed.

  • 4.

Before and during grad school, I worked at different types of schools with different students. This helped me figure out what kind of students I most wanted to work with.

Defining Moments

How I responded to discouragement

  • THE NOISE

    Messages from Parents:

You'll never make any money doing that. You could make more money with a Bachelor's in something else.

  • How I responded:

I may not make tons of money, but I make enough to live comfortably, and I get to do a job that is fulfilling, helps others, and that I am passionate about!
