Milestones
My road in life has taken me all over.
An environmental geology class at ACC that inspired me to pursue geology and engineering.
An administrative detail that meant my job in hydrology wasn't going to work out how I had hoped, so I got certified to teach high school. I always admired my teachers and thought I would love it.
I did not love teaching! I loved many parts of it but struggled with student behavior, so I went back to graduate school in engineering.
I loved graduate school and even got a great job teaching a university class. But I couldn't figure out where I fit into the petroleum engineering industry, so I went back to teaching high school.

Day to Day
I am still looking for a full-time job as a software engineer. In the meantime, I spend a lot of the day applying for jobs and following up on job applications, and as much time as I have left going to meetups to network with other developers and to find open source projects to work on.
Advice for Getting Started
Here's the first step for everyone
Build some websites and web applications and share them on GitHub.
