My road in life has taken me all over.
Got interested in theatrical makeup and wigs in art school while earning a fine arts degree
became a photo retoucher while doing theater as a hobby. Learned photoshop as industry went digital.
Started my own business in photo retouching and restoration.
Started teaching airbrush to vocational students.
Became graphic designer at art school, created digital art curriculum and taught the classes.
took job as art director for in house corporate agency
went back to school for esthetics licence
ran 10 sqft destination spa, house makeup artist. Started teaching MU at beauty school & Freelanced

Either onset for a freelance job or in the classroom teaching students how to make the most of their passion, a great day is doing makeup or teaching the art of makeup.

Advice for Getting Started

Here's the first step for high school students

Aquire the skills necessary to do makeup as a profession. Doing your own makeup is very different than doing makeup on many different skin tones & face shapes. Just as runway makeup is very different than film makeup. There are also the sanitation procedures to learn not to spread disease.

My career is not related to what I studied. I'd recommend this path instead:
