Defining Moments
How I responded to discouragement
THE NOISE
You should smile more and say less. You are too wordy. You show your emotional side too much.
How I responded:
I didn't let self doubt take over. I accepted feedback and adjusted my style but I refused to change who I am at the core. I believe that anything is possible if you put your mind to it. I take failures as an opportunity to learn and avoid repeating mistakes. I embrace my quirkiness and form strong relationships with people to establish trust. I think about my daughter and want her to believe she can achieve anything.
Experiences and challenges that shaped me
I struggle with anxiety and depression. I see a therapist and take medication to help me cope. I journal and try to express myself through a creative outlet (drawing, writing, painting).
I have difficulty concentrating and get distracted very easily. I make to do lists. Sometimes I have to turn off email, IM, let calls go to voicemail in order to focus on finishing what I am working on.
