Day to Day

I love my work because no two days are alike. I might work with one organization on instructional design to improve management skills in a specific area, or conduct a leadership workshop with another organization, or facilitate a team building intervention for executives at another organization. Some days I even conduct statistical analysis for an organization to improve or assess customer service skills.

Skills & Qualities Beyond School

Public speaking and presentation skills, as well as instructional design skills are needed to successfully accomplish my work. Certifications such as Myers-Briggs, DiSC, and DDI/Achieve Global are also very useful.

Advice for Getting Started

Education is critical to transition to a new career. I spent over twenty years in advertising and broadcasting. It was the education at the Master's level that gave me the courage to begin my own business in a field I was interested in, and it was the Doctorate that helped me be successful.
