Day to Day

A great day at work is a day that challenges me. The 56 members of my team come to me for all sorts of legal advice, and their questions give me a constant opportunity to expand my knowledge base about finance, regulation, and business development.

Skills & Qualities Beyond School

It is often said that law school does not teach you how to be a lawyer, but instead teaches you how to think like a lawyer. I strongly concur with this, and essentially all you learn from being a practicing attorney are things learned on the job through firsthand experience. New lawyers need to go into the profession with an open mind and a preparedness for accepting that you know little to nothing about the field of specialty in which you will grow, but with time that changes.

Advice for Getting Started

Here's the first step for college students

Take the time to properly prepare for the LSAT, and pay very close attention to the application process for law school. These will set you up for success early on. It is important as well to go to law school in the state in which you eventually want to practice, because that will make the bar exam a much easier process if that state's bar exam contains testing on state law.
