Defining Moments

How I responded to discouragement

  • THE NOISE

    Messages from Parents:

You'll never make money doing that and, besides, what if you're not good enough?

  • How I responded:

It can be important to listen to others' feedback but it's also important to block out the negativity.

Experiences and challenges that shaped me

  • My parents didn't teach me about financial health or responsibility growing up and so I had to learn this on my own as an adult. I made a decision to improve it.

  • I don't think this was a hardship but it was a challenge. I think I eventually learned to go towards positive situations and people and to move away from the negative.
