Attend college expecting to major in sciences, but found that the jobs after school weren't for me.
Took classes in other majors looking for a spark and found a place in Finance that challenged me.
Got a job in the Finance sector doing basic corporate finance support.
Supported a team that was in affordable housing and loved their work and seeing what they do.
Applied for an entry level role that opened on the team to get into the affordable housing business.

Learning / Being Challenged

Day to Day

Being able to accomplish several goals within one day across multiple areas of he job. This could be completing annual reviews on some properties and ensuring they are able to maintain the goal of providing affordable housing or working towards process improvements within my broader team. It's most rewarding when a process improvement has been completed and can be presented to the team and receive feedback.

Skills & Qualities Beyond School

Communication skills are crucial. If you cant accurately describe everything you're working on then you may have challenges getting your work approved or implemented. Additionally, you need to be able to multi-task as you as you may be pulled in multiple directions at a time if your properties are experiencing any difficulties.

Dont be afraid to take an entry level position as the affordable housing and real estate businesses have a lot of complexity.
