My path in life took a while to figure out
1.
I strived my best in studies and ASKED for help from teachers when needed.
2.
My brothers & I took martial arts & learned valuable lessons that we carry and use to this day.
3.
I continued with college, pursuing/developing skills & achieved certification in Communications.
4.
I volunteered in the community & still do. There are others in worse need than ourselves.
5.
I searched and found a steady job, got married & had a baby.
6.
Though eventually I divorced, I kept parenting a main focus to provide a STABLE home for my child.
7.
Ensured my child was consistent in her studies, activities & applied for college in her senior year.
8.
My stability has allowed me to assist one of my brothers to complete further education.
Defining Moments
How I responded to discouragement
THE NOISE
You make poor choices and keep making mistakes (my father).
How I responded:
I had to realize I needed these lessons to learn from and gain wisdom, in order to be a better person.
Experiences and challenges that shaped me
My father gambled & we experienced a foreclosure & midnight-moves. I have 3 brothers & at times, we had only rice or cereal to eat. Our mother kept us stable & taught us to protect & confide in each other. Strong sibling bonds gave us confidence.
