Learning / Being Challenged

Day to Day

A great day at work involves loading massive unstructured datasets onto the cloud, running them through GPUs, using deep learning, and trying crazy new tricks that nobody has ever tried and seeing them work. I love having an idea, testing it, and seeing the validation that my inspiration was good. My work lets me work remote, from home, and sometimes even out of the country. I love being appreciated for what I do, not how long I sat at my desk. I use my brain at work, not everyone can say that.

Skills & Qualities Beyond School

You need to have passion. You need to LOVE what you do, if you don't you will struggle to succeed in my line of work because I have to continue to learn weekly. If you love working with really smart people, learning something new every day, and solving impossible problems you will do great. Helpful skills involve programming, math (linear algebra, calculus, statistics), cloud computing (AWS, linux, databases, bash, python) and curiousity. Programming is awesome, try it today!

Advice for Getting Started

Here's the first step for college students

Learn math and programming, study sklearn and python. Be active in local meetups.

Recommended Education

My career is not related to what I studied. I'd recommend this path instead:

Bachelor
Mathematics, General
graduate
Graduate
