Social Studies Teacher
I teach and inspire students about US History.
A fantastic day would look like an orchestra with every student getting exactly what they needed that day to feel like they were successful. You would see students doing entirely different activities to meet the same content and skill goals based on their ability, confidence, and motivational level. You would see time management that was efficient and stayed within the constraints that were set for each task. You would see engaged students that wanted to learn and be in school.
Patience. Lots of patience. Inner strength to push through the exhaustion and know that what I'm doing is for the greater good. Time management is definitely something that I had to learn beyond what I had prepared for while getting my own education.
Here's the first step for high school students
Get the best grades possible and pay attention to what your teachers do that make them a "good" teacher. Not an easy teacher! A good teacher, one that you learn from and one that you want to go to their classroom. Get experience with teaching at summer camps if you can.
