My path in life has been direct
1.
First, I majored in Education because my mom told me that I was born a teacher.
2.
I did my student teaching in a 10th grade classroom and loved it! I did get accepted to law school.
3.
Then I decided to get into law school because I thought I wanted to be a lawyer.
4.
Then I made the decision to not go to law school and get a master's degree in Education.
Defining Moments
How I responded to discouragement
THE NOISE
Messages from Peers:
You were meant to be a lawyer or a CEO or something important!
How I responded:
Once I was living on my own while doing my student teaching, I got away from all of the people discouraging me from being an educator. I realized that my mom was right! I was born to be a teacher. Now, as an Academic Counselor, I am a different kind of teacher. I get to work individually with students and share their highs and lows with them. Getting rid of the noise led me to a career that makes me happy and allows me to be my best me.
