My path in life took a while to figure out

    Learned Transcendental Meditation technique.

    Teacher training for Transcendental Meditation technique.

    Workshops that reminded me of what is meaningful to me, such as Teaching from the Heart.

How I responded to discouragement

  • THE NOISE

    Messages from Society in general:

    You aren't good at science, you shouldn't be a psychiatrist." (I ended up with all A's in grad school later on).

  • How I responded:

    I made choices of who the right friends were and kept those who encouraged my unique path without manipulating me to adopt what works for them. (Those who meant well, sometimes were the noise). I turned the TV off and kept an awareness that the media is mind-based with little heart or soul. I get out in nature often and refurbish the issues that come at me when in the city too long. Going within, and maybe with a mentor at first, always works to cut out the noise.

  • I was born in the 50s when girls didn't play sports. The emphasis was on girly girl things and boys. There was little recognition of me as a girl with empowerment and unique potential. Owning the power of my life has been the overriding theme!
