Day to Day

I work to mentor and guide students as they start college and explore possible majors and careers. I work to create programs to provide more opportunities for deep-meaning learning for students as they connect their values and experiences to the goals for the future.

Skills & Qualities Beyond School

It is important that you have strong interpersonal skills. It helps if you have experience in the field of education or a passion for student success at any level. Often a Masters degree in High Education, Counseling or a related field is required.

Advice for Getting Started

Here's the first step for college students

Students should take advantage of leadership opportunities on their campus. Pursue opportunities to serve as a mentor or even a Resident Assistant in residence halls. Take opportunities to get involved outside of the classroom. Get to know the staff and faculty on your campus very well. It is important to build a strong resume filled with relevant experiences.
