I've taken a lot of twists and turns
1.
First I spent years working in office environments. I never liked it.
2.
Then I stopped worrying about what I was supposed to do and did what I wanted to do.
3.
I made the decision to take time off of working for other people and I worked for my family.
4.
I stayed home and raised my kids because it was what I most wanted to do.
5.
I never intended to go back to work because it didn't appeal to me.
6.
Then, quite by accident, I found I could work from home.
7.
I discovered I LOVED it! For me, it makes all the difference not to have to go into the office.
8.
Then I lived happily ever after.

Messages from Society in general:
Are you sure you want to stay home to raise your child? We can't imagine you turning down our offer. Why would you want to do THAT?!
How I responded:
I said, "I am sure. After careful consideration I have decided that I know what I want to do and I am going to do it. It's the right choice for me." It helped me to focus on my talents and gifts. I know what I have to offer an employer: I'm smart, efficient, and reliable. I learn quickly and I like change. Being sound in that understanding helped me know that I am valuable. I had the confidence to pursue what I wanted to do no matter what anyone else thought I should do.
Experiences and challenges that shaped me
I worked hard. I graduated from college thousands of dollars in debt. I lived frugally and paid it off even though I never earned more than $12 an hour. I did what I had to to do it on my own.
