Messages from Society in general:
You need to choose a career.
How I responded:
Your career is built be the experiences you have throughout your work life. I have worked in many different jobs/areas and although I will never be upper management, I am so happy learning new things and challenging myself when I find an opprtunity that is different than anything I have done before. You will more than likely never follow a straight line, there will be bumps and obstacles, but you will grow through those experiences. Always believe in yourself and your abilities!
Experiences and challenges that shaped me
I worked to put myself through college and although I came out with loans and it took a nice chunk of time to repay, I am more skilled at multi-tasking and efficiency since I had to balance work and school. And you do appreciate it more.
