Defining Moments
How I responded to discouragement
THE NOISE
Messages from Myself:
When I worked in the supermarket some people were resigned to the fact that they'd always be in the job they were in, and they'd never aspire to do anything better. Some people told me I'd be just like them.
How I responded:
After I graduated college I knew I was destined for something better. I had a secure job I had been in for 10 years, but it was just part-time and I wasn't making much money. I knew I wanted to be financially independent and I needed to take some chances to get into a management role. I had to be ready to leave my comfort zone to do this.
Experiences and challenges that shaped me
When I moved into my own home for the first time, I was barely keeping my head above water. I needed to make more money, but didn't want to leave my job. I jumped on an opportunity to manage 2 branches instead of one, and managed a $10k increase.
