Defining Moments
How I responded to discouragement
THE NOISE
Messages from Peers:
You don't have what it takes to play at this level. What do you know about this particular field, why did they hire you?
How I responded:
I have a strong belief in myself that if I put in the work I can learn anything. In my case most of it is through asking questions and yes that means the same question more than once. Skills can be taught, attitude and the desire to be great in your role cannot. Every day I try and learn something new, it does not matter what it is. The key is to apply what you have learned at the very next opportunity.
Experiences and challenges that shaped me
I had to go to work early on in my life so my schooling suffered. I found a mentor who was able to help me navigate through my life. This person wanted nothing more than for me to be happy in whatever it is I was going to do.
