Day to Day

A great day at work for me begins by having a meeting with my staff to discuss what objectives we want to accomplish for the day. We then put a plan in place for what each associate is responsible for. Throughout the day we help our customers with a lot of important banking needs. An example is a customer that needs to open up a checking account so they can use a debit card to make their purchases. Another example is a customer that would like some help regarding planning their retirement.

Skills & Qualities Beyond School

The most important skill that is needed is the ability to be a team player. It is all about reaching the goals as a team, where everyone contributes to the success. Another important skill that is needed is the ability to provide great customer service. The customer is the most important part of any business because without customers then businesses would not exist. It is for this reason that having the skill to communicate and relate to customers is one the most important skills you can develop.

Advice for Getting Started

Here's the first step for high school students

Make sure that you get a job that will help you further your experience in this field. A place where you are given goals to achieve and your performance is measured would be ideal. Also, having interactions with customers and being a part of a team are very important too.

The Noise I Shed

From Family:

"It is too late for you to change career, restaurant life is all you know."

I realized that you can do anything you put your mind to! And, people who try to discourage you are just using their personal failure as the reasons why they think it is impossible. The key is to work hard and stay dedicated to a goal and never give up.

Challenges I Overcame

First-Generation Immigrant

I came here at 9 years old without having any previous school training. When I started school here I did not know english or how to write my name. I worked harder than everyone else and was able to get good grades because of my dedication.
