My path in life took a while to figure out
1.
First job right out of HS was peak time teller, wanted to learn more so sought out full time slot.
2.
As a full time teller, I was always curious on the platform side of banking. There was a posting but didn't get the job.
3.
Time to reevaluate and see what I want to do, re-enrolled in school to pursue a degree.
4.
Got job at another financial institution as platform rep., but not available at assigned branch.
5.
Focused in school, and despite not having the role always offered to help bank manager.
6.
Uncovered passion for Ops and with support of direct management was able to get a job within field.
Defining Moments
How I responded to discouragement
THE NOISE
Messages from Peers:
You are crazy working and going to school full time while raising three kids.
How I responded:
After realizing I was unhappy and feeling stuck in my current role, I laid out priorities and sought support from my family members - husband and mom. They understood why and were more than willing to help. My mom took care of kids after school while I was taking night classes and my husband will cook and pick them up.
Experiences and challenges that shaped me
Supporting a family of 5 and adding on tuition cost was not easy. I overcame it by cutting back on what I called unnecessary expenses - eating out, shopping every other week, SALON expenses. I learned how to do my own hair and nails.
