I've taken a lot of twists and turns
1.
Traveled via the Navy, and saw poverty and degradation of landscape.
2.
Worked for two Fortune 500 companies and learned finance and marketing.
3.
Went into the profession of risk management and investment management.
4.
Left to buy a small ranch and develop and apply holistic management tools.
5.
Improved the forage production and habitat for wild life, especially upland game birds.
6.
Learn more each year, and strive to improve the soil, forage, and overall health of the animals.
Defining Moments
How I responded to discouragement
THE NOISE
Messages from Teachers:
You should get a steady job in the metro areas with a large company and have job security for all your working years.
How I responded:
Thought I was capable of doing more than "just getting by", and that there were no obstacles in my way other than my attitude towards risk, and change. I didn't let fear of the unknown, drive me towards that which is known, or risk free, or normal. I went from two years of college to General Motors, to Pfizer, to being self-employed in the insurance and investment profession, to owning, managing (working on) a grass based ranch where we manage in a holistic way in harmony with the environment.
Experiences and challenges that shaped me
Came from a working blue collar family; realized that I would have to put together any financial help that I may need.
Sobered up 27 years ago; got sick and tired of being sick and tired.
