Defining Moments
How I responded to discouragement
THE NOISE
Messages from Parents:
You should be a doctor just like your father, or maybe a dentist.
How I responded:
I knew that I did not like or do well in the sciences, so it was fairly easy to ignore the "noise". My parents were understanding of my strengths/weaknesses, so the "noise" was easy to overcome. I was always goal oriented, and wanted to be in a profession where I could perform a valuable service to those in need of my help.
