Milestones
My road in life has been direct.
Wanted a profession where I could help people in crisis.
Thought that might be a psychologist.
Did not enjoy science classes so switched to political science.
Took the Law School Admission Test as a senior in college.
Applied and was accepted at law school- University of Santa Clara School of Law.
Got hired as a junior associate in a small law firm where I was exposed to different areas of the law.
Discovered that I enjoyed working on Family Law cases the most.
Formed a partnership of Family Law attorneys. We now have 5 partners and 10 associates in the firm.

There is no "typical" work day. Some days I meet with clients to discuss the issues in their family law matter; some days I am in court trying cases; some days there is research and writing required; and some days all of those events take place.
Advice for Getting Started
Here's the first step for college students
Take courses that will prepare you to become a skillful writer with good analytical skills.
