  • 3.

I went to New York University, where I studied socially engaged art with a minor in sculpture.

  • 4.

After visiting my family in Ethiopia, my curiosity about connecting global communities led me to teach myself web development.

  • 5.

I went back to school for a Master of Fine Arts in design and technology at Parsons, which expanded my horizons and introduced me to participatory design and physical computing.

  • 6.

My artistic practice grew as I created interactive works and advised musicians on stage and wearable tech designs.

  • 7.

I eventually got a job as the director of NEW INC, where I foster innovation in art, design, and technology for over a hundred members annually.
