Vice President of Philanthropy

I lead a global grantmaking team dedicated to creating education and economic opportunity for all.

My Day to Day

My days are full of conversations with school superintendents, nonprofit leaders, and community changemakers. I align funding with real needs, help programs grow, and even visit classrooms to see firsthand where the resources and dollars we're giving are being implemented. My job is all about building relationships that move the needle for young people.

My path in life has been direct

  • 1.

    I grew up in Oakland, California, surrounded by educators—my mom and grandmother both taught in local schools.

  • 2.

    I earned a football scholarship that allowed me to attend college and get my education without financial burden.

  • 3.

    After college, I began my career as a classroom teacher in Oakland, becoming a third-generation educator in my family.

  • 4.

    I transitioned into school leadership, eventually running elementary, middle, and high schools focused on transformation and turnaround.

  • 5.

    My work in education reform led me to partner with Salesforce, where I began consulting with districts on systemic change.

  • 6.

    I eventually joined Salesforce full-time to work on educational philanthropy and drive student-centered innovation.
