My path in life has been direct

While watching a football game, I became mesmerized by Purdue University’s marching band and decided that’s where I’d go to college.

My mom helped me pay for my first year of college, then I worked, searched for scholarships, and figured out the rest as I went.

I worked as a campus tour guide and learned how powerful it is to help families feel less alone in the college process.
4.
When my mentor refused to hire me after graduation, I realized I needed to explore the world before finding my way back to education.
5.
I worked in retail and HR, but I felt disconnected until I returned to helping students navigate college and higher ed opportunities.
6.
I earned my master’s in higher education, confirming that creating access and belonging for students was the work I was meant to do.
7.
Now I manage the whole higher education portfolio at Bloomberg Philanthropies.
